Does the Ocean Village Hotel have kitchenettes?: The Ocean Village Hotel has small 4.2 cubic foot refrigerators in each room but there are no cooking appliances.
Do the rooms at the Ocean Village Hotel have private bathrooms?: Yes, every room at the Ocean Village Hotel has a private bathroom. You will not be required to share a bathroom with any other guest.
What is the water like in Surfside Beach?: The water in Surfside Beach is safe to drink however it can be a bit discolored. The water for all residents and visitors is derived from a well water system, which is provided by the Village of Surfside Beach. While the water may appear discolored it has been treated and is drinkable. However we do recommend that you do not drink the water in Surfside Beach and only use it for bathing. If you like to drink water we recommend you pick up a case of filtered or well water on your way to Surfside Beach.
Are you a 24 hour facility?: The Ocean Village Hotel is a small, boutique style hotel in Surfside Beach so we are not a 24 hour facility. Our Front Desk is generally open from 11am until 5pm, particularly on weekends. When the Front Desk is closed we transfer the reservations up to the Pirates Alley Cafe, which is in the same complex. During Season, generally April 1st until October 31st the Cafe is open until 9pm on weekdays and 10 pm on weekends. Due to the seasonal nature of Surfside Beach the Cafe is generally closed by 7pm on weekdays and 8pm on weekends during the Off Season. We do offer check-ins with no additional charges until 10pm every day. During the Off Season we just ask that you contact us in advance so we can have someone available to meet you if you will be arriving after the Cafe Closes. If you need to arrive after 10pm there will be a Late Check-In fee of $20, which must be paid in cash at the time of arrival. Late Check-ins are only available until Midnight. If you need to arrive after midnight we respectfully request you find other accommodations, at leat for the night of your arrival. If you plan to stay multiple nights then on the night of arrival we request you find other accommodations and then check in at the Ocean Village Hotel the next day. Our check-in time is 2PM. If you contact us in advance, and we have available rooms, we may be able to block off your room for the night before you check-in, so you can check in early the next day.
Do you have laundry facilities?: At this time, we do not have laundry facilties available for guests of the Ocean Village Hotel. If you are staying with us on a long term basis there are Laundromats in Freeport and Clute, within 10 miles driving distance.
Do you have coffee pots in your rooms?: Due to the water quality in Surfside Beach, as mentioned above, we do not currently have coffee pots in our Hotel rooms. However Hotel Guests can get free coffee at the Pirates Alley Cafe all day long. The Cafe opens at 8am for breakfast.
Does the Ocean Village Hotel provide transportation from the Airport?: At this time the Ocean Village Hotel does not provide transportation to or from any airports in Houston. Based on our experience there are car services that will provide service to Surfside Beach. If you are unable to locate one we recommend you rent a car. Do you provide Suntan lotion to guests?: At this time, the Ocean Village Hotel does not have a gift shop to be able to offer sundries like Suntan lotion. We recommend you purchase the Suntan lotion or Sunblock that you'll need before arriving in Surfside Beach, to avoid the higher cost at the 24 hour Valero gas station that is located in Surfside Beach.
Do you provide Beach Chairs or Beach Umbrellas to hotel guests?: During the high season, Memorial Day until Labor Day, we do have a company that sets up Beach Umbrellas and Beach Chairs on the beach that are free for Guests to use. In the Off Season we do still have the Chairs and Umbrellas available but they are not automatically set up on the beach. If you would like a beach umbrella with beach chairs please call us so we can arrange that for you. There is a $10 charge for us to set those up each day you need them or we can provide them to you at no charge if you would like to set up the umbrella and chairs yourself.
Does the Ocean Village Hotel provide Beach Towels?: At this time the Ocean Village Hotel does not provide Beach Towels. We do provide at least 4 towels for use after a bath or shower. We ask that you do NOT take our bath towels to the beach. You will want to bring your own Beach Towels.
Are there Mosquitos in Surfside Beach?: At certain times of year the mosquitos are more prevalent. Mosquitos are dependent on the weather conditions. If it is cold or windy the mosquitos tend to stay away. If it has rained recently or is very humid and not windy there is a chance of mosquitos. We recommend you bring some Mosquito Repellant, especially if the weather forecast is not too specific. Buying Mosquito Repellant in Surfside Beach is more expensive since there is only the one Valero that carries it.
What sundries do you offer to guests?: At this time, the Ocean Village Hotel offers free soap and shampoo to all of our guests. We do not currently have oher sundries available, such as toothpast, toothbrushes, lotion, pain medicine, etc. If you need someting other than Soap or Shampoo you will need to bring your own.
Do you have hair dryers in your rooms?: At this time, the Ocean Village Hotel does not have hair dryers in our rooms. We do have two hair dryers we can loan out to guests on a first come first serve basis. If you require a hair dryer we request that you ask for one to be in your room in advance or for you to bring your own.
Do you have Irons and Ironing Boards in your rooms?: At this time, the Ocean Village Hotel does not have Irons and Ironing Boards in our rooms. We do have a number of Irons available to loan out, but not ironing boards. Irons are available on a first come first serve basis. If you require an Iron we request that you ask for one to be in your room in advance or for you to bring your own.
